National Health Center Week

August 9-15 is National Health Center and Exercise week.

Exercise is one of the best ways to ensure a healthier and longer life. The benefits of exercise are invaluable! Such as:
  • Improving your bone density and reducing your risks of falls and fractures.
  • Reversing natural muscle loss that occurs during aging.
  • Lowering your risk of heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, gallstones, and colon cancer
  • Keeps you trim and improves your mood and relaxation

Exercising daily plays a crucial role in the process of healing and recovering from injury or a disease.This is the goal of physical therapy exercises. Stretching and strengthening activities are only a few types of physical therapy exercises.

Balancing Exercise: Singe Leg Stance

  1. Stand behind a chair
    Hold onto the chair back with both hands
  2. Slowly lift one leg off the ground
  3. Maintain your balance standing on one leg for 5 seconds
  4. Return to standing position and repeat x 5
  5. Perform with the opposite leg
