November is...

Temporomandibular Joint Disorder Month

TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Disorder) is most common in adults ages 20 to 50 and especially in women. In most cases symptoms are mild and go away with time and treatment. TMJ is a condition of the joint connecting the upper and lower jaw bones. Conditions characterized by pain in the jaw and surrounding tissues and limitations in jaw movements.

Physical therapists have developed a comprehensive program to evaluate and treat the direct areas affected by TMJ disorders including the head, neck, face and shoulders. Therapists work closely with each patient to determine the potential cause and address it appropriately.
